Modern Vietnam was born upon the Proclamation of Independence from France in 1945. Following Vietnamese victory against the French in the First Indochina War, which ended in 1954, the nation was divided into two rival states: communist North and anti-communist South. Conflicts intensified in the Vietnam War, which saw extensive US intervention in support of South Vietnam and ended with North Vietnamese victory in 1975.

☑️ 1940 - Japan takes control of Indochina.

Hello! Today I will tell you about the geohistory of India.

India is the second-most populous country in the world (after China), with an estimated population of 1.36 billion people (in 2019) and, according to UN estimates, its population is expected to overtake China's in 2028 to become the world's most populous nation. The country is subdivided into 28 states and 8 Union Territories.

With an area of 3,287,263 km², India is the 7th largest country in the world, about one-third the size of the USA.

As a rising economic powerhouse and nuclear-armed state, India has emerged as an important regional power. But it is also tackling huge, social, economic and environmental problems.
Capital and largest urban area of India is (New) Delhi; the second largest city is Mumbai. The official languages are Hindi-Urdu and English (the Indian Constitution lists 22 recognized languages).

Some key dates in India's history:
The Indus Valley civilization, one of the oldest in the world, goes back at least 5,000 years. Arab incursions starting in the 8th century and Turkish in the 12th were followed by European traders beginning in the late 15th century.
1600s - The British arrive and establish trading posts under The British East India Company - by the 1850s they control most of the subcontinent.
1858 - India comes under direct British rule.
1920 - Nationalist leader Mahatma Gandhi heads a campaign of non-violent protest against British rule which eventually leads to independence.
Nonviolent resistance to British colonialism under Mohandas GANDHI and Jawaharlal NEHRU led to India's independence in 1947.
The subcontinent was divided into the secular state of India and the smaller Muslim state of Pakistan. A third war between the two countries in 1971 resulted in East Pakistan becoming the separate nation of Bangladesh.
1974 - India conducts its first underground nuclear test.
1990s - Government initiates a programme of economic liberalisation and reform, opening up the economy to global trade and investment.
2000 - India's population tops one billion.
2014 - Hindu nationalist BJP party scores biggest election victory by any party in 30 years.

Destination Indonesia, the largest archipelago in the world is situated in Maritime Southeast Asia.

The country consists of a number of islands between, 13,000 and more than 17,000, depending on what you define as an island.

With an area of 1,904,569 km² and a population of 258 million people making Indonesia the largest and most populous country situated only on islands, the combined area of the archipelago is slightly smaller than Mexico, or more than five times the size of Germany.

Indonesia's capital and largest city is Jakarta on the island of Java, other major cities: Bandung, Medan, Surabaya. Official language is Indonesian.

Spread across a chain of thousands of islands between Asia and Australia, Indonesia has the world's largest Muslim population and Southeast Asia's biggest economy. The people range from rural hunter-gatherers to a modern urban elite.

Sophisticated kingdoms existed before the arrival of the Dutch, who colonised the archipelago but gave in to an independence struggle in 1949.

Indonesia has become one of the world's major emerging economies, but faces demands for independence in several provinces and increasing attacks by Islamist armed groups.

Australia became independent from the UK in several stages, only on the 3rd March 1986, Australia achieved complete independence from Britain.

There is a variety of definition of Oceania. The most plausible is to denote the insular area in the Pacific Ocean east of Maritime Southeast Asia and Australia and west of South America.

There are 14 independent countries and a number of dependent territories.

By far the largest country by area is Australia with 7,692,024 km², followed by Papua New Guinea with 462,840 km².

The smallest independent country in Oceania is the island nation of Nauru with 21 km².

Australia/New Zealand sometimes referred to as Australasia.

New Zealand is a geographically isolated island nation in the southern Pacific, situated about 2,000 km (1,250 mi) southeast of Australia's east coast. 4.7 million people live in New Zealand (in 2019). The country consists of two main islands, known as the North Island (Te Ika-a-Māui), and the South Island (Te Waipounamu).

Melanesia is a region in the western Pacific Ocean to the east and south of New Guinea Island; its northern boundary is the Equator. The area includes the island of New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago, four independent countries: Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea, and the French dependency of New Caledonia. Many islands of Melanesia are of volcanic origin and belong to the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Micronesia is a region in the western Pacific Ocean, north of Melanesia and north and west of Polynesia; its southern boundary is largely along the Equator. The area includes the Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, the Marshall Islands, and the western portion of the Kiribati archipelago.
In 2019 an estimated 537,000 people live in Micronesia.

The term Polynesia refers to a vast region of the central Pacific Ocean to the east of Micronesia and Melanesia. The ocean section contains the easternmost of the Pacific islands, including New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Hawaii, the Marquesas Islands, Samoa, and French Polynesia.

An estimated 42 million people live in Oceania/Australia; about 0.56 % of the world's population (7.53 billion).

The most populous countries in Oceania are Australia with 25 million people and Papua New Guinea with 8.5 million (in 2019).

The Caribbean region borders the Gulf of Mexico in the west, the Florida Straits in the north and the Northern Atlantic Ocean in the east. The largest islands in the Caribbean are Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad.

There are 8 countries in Central America namely Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico.

The Faroe Islands, an island group between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean are a self-governing territory of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Greenland, which geographically belongs to North America, is as well an autonomous Danish territory.  A small piece of Western Kazakhstan is also considered to be part of Europe.

An estimated 747 million people live in Europe. The most populous country in Europe is the European part of Russia with a population of 110 million people, followed by Germany with 83 million citizens, and Metropolitan France with 67 million inhabitants (in 2019).

Asia is the largest of the five continents on Planet Earth in area and population. The term Asia refers conventionally to the eastern portion of the Eurasian landmass plus the island country of Japan and the island nations of Maritime Southeast Asia.

The area is shared by 48 countries. By far the largest nation by area is Russia, with more than 17 million km², 13 million km² (77%) are in Asia. The second-largest country is China, with an area of 9.6 million km².

An estimated 4.6 billion people live in Asia, which is about 60 percent of the world's population. 1.42 billion of those people live in China (in 2020). Seven out of ten of the most populated countries are in Asia.

There are more than 2,000 living languages throughout Asia. Major languages are Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Russian, Thai, Turkic, Urdu, Vietnamese and other.
